Calling all matcha lovers! This weekend marks exactly one year since San Diego met Holy Matcha, our city’s first matcha café. While it may seem like yesterday that Holy Matcha joined North Park’s unique lineup of creative businesses, it has indeed been a whole year since its doors opened and that calls for a matcha filled celebration.
Both Saturday, March 10th and Sunday, March 11th will bring festivities to our favorite lush pink-and-green oasis that’s definitely the most Instagram worthy spot for all things matcha. You’ll want to get there early, because the first ten people in the door both days will receive an envy-producing swag bag filled with items from Holy Matcha plus wellness-oriented brands like Cocokind, Moon Juice and Sun Potion.
You can also line up for off-menu surprise specials that will be announced day-of, in addition to Holy Matcha’s extensive menu of both traditional and specialty matcha drinks and plant based bites, including avocado toast and matcha chia pudding, soft serve and donuts. If you’re in need of a new Insta photo, you’ll want to take advantage of two perfect photo-op backdrops exclusive to the anniversary weekend. Guests can enjoy an ornate balloon wall covering the exterior of the café in large pink balloons, plus the memorable flower wall will make its return inside the café, filled with all shades of pink and cream roses.
Leading up to the celebration this weekend, Holy Matcha will be hosting an all-day women’s party on Thursday, March 8th in honor of International Women’s Day, an important holiday to Holy Matcha’s founder, Geraldine Ridaura. You can sip the first unique-to-the-weekend drink, The Lady Latte, while taking part in an interactive community display honoring what it means to be a woman. Holy Matcha will be open 9 am to 7 pm both Saturday and Sunday. We’re looking forward to sipping the vibrant green tea that started it all with you.
