This Thursday, March 24th, celebrate the grand opening of the brand new North Park Thursday Market, between 30th St. and Granada Ave.! Located right by 30th & University, the North Park Thursday Market will be in a central location for easy access to members of the community, as well as patrons visiting from all around San Diego. There will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting by some of our local Chefs’ starting at 3pm to welcome the brand new market into our community.
Spend the whole afternoon wandering around the market and enjoy a local officials kickoff at 5pm, live music from local musicians, and arts and crafts for the kids! There is something for everyone to experience at the new Thursday Market. Ann Blessing Gallagher from The Studio Door will be on site to show kids, and even adults, how to “art your vegetables.”
The new farmers’ market will have weekly cooking demonstrations, with Chef Hanis of Carnitas Snack Shack kicking things off at 4pm and 5:30pm, respectively. Local Chefs’ will be providing great, easy to make recipes to make at home. Featured Chefs’ include: Chef Matt Gordan of Urban Solace, Chef Rich Sweeney of Waypoint Public, Chef Joanne Sherif of Cardamom Cafe and Bakery and Chef Abe Botello of of West Coast Tavern. Chef Abe even integrates a special “Market Faire” dish every Thursday at West Coast Tavern, with produce used from the market.
On top of all of the activities and events during the grand opening, over 65 farmers and vendors will be bringing fresh fruits, vegetables, artisan grocery items, prepared foods and craft goods will be available to check out and purchase.
Great merch from the new North Park Thursday Market will be sold, such as t-shirts and shopping bags. You will even have the chance to enter to win a 6 month swim club membership from the Lafayette Hotel! One of our favorite things about the North Park is how the community supports each other for events like this to be successful and grow.
